23 March 2021 was the first anniversary of the UK national lockdown.
At 11:00 AM, on 23 March 2021, on a Zoom call with nearly 250 attendees, Eleanor’s CEO, Marc Santhi, addressed the Eleanor team of carers and staff. He delivered a powerful message, describing the moments as UK went into a lockdown. One after another, all the great public and private institutions closed their doors. “But,” said Marc, “. . . we had to carry on. We never get to close, pandemic or not. We do so because there is always someone we care for, waiting for us to feed them, to bathe them, or give them their medication. We turn up to care . . . every day, 365 days.”
He acknowledged the sacrifices you have made in the last year, your hard work, dedication, and bravery, and thanked you for it. He also remembered our service users who have succumbed to COVID-19. He emphasised the necessity for COVID-19 vaccine, and ended his address on a high and hopeful note, cautioning that we must not grow slack now that the battle is nearly won.
