Hospital GS1 Order Demand Scanning & Restocking of Pharmacy Fluids

Mickel Brown

Eleanor Hospital Logistics are immensely proud to announce the ‘start-up of the new North West London & Kingston Pharmacy Fluid Hospital Supply Chain Service.

This exciting new service is the first of its kind, providing 15 London Hospitals with the latest GS1 Scan4Safety principles and scan technology, offering full end to end fluid product, batch and expiry tracking from our off-site warehouse to each hospital ward, theatre and critical care departments.

Eleanor’s Materials Management Team enter each hospital clinical area, using our HOSLO system PDA, we scan the global location (GLN) barcode on entering the hospital ward to digitally identify the hospital and ward we have entered and upon entry, the team proceeds to scan each individual ‘Eleanor fluid carton GTIN barcode’ capturing the product code, description, expiration date and batch number upon every storeroom scan and restock.

The new service will not only enhance patient safety, it also provides each hospital with system access to view every fluid storeroom scan and restock as it happens.

On behalf of Eleanor we would like to thank every hospital Trust and their amazingly supportive teams who have been nothing short of incredible in their desire to work with Eleanor and as one joined-up collaboration.
