• To maintain a high standard of efficiency and cleanliness expected within all areas of the home.
• Have knowledge of Health and Safety regulations and display safety signs when necessary i.e. wet floors.
• Attend departmental COSHH updates on any new products introduced.
• Attend any training sessions as arranged by the Home Manager with special regard to your health and safety.
• Adhere to the homes policies on resident’s confidentiality.
• Have knowledge of Fire Regulations, Fire procedures and Quality Assurance Systems.
• When entering a resident’s room to clean, ensure that all domestics respect their dignity and privacy, remembering at all times that this is “Their Home”
• Have due regard for and respect the residents personal belongings.
• Have knowledge of all cleaning compounds used and use according to instructions.
• En-suite and public toilets, baths and hand basins are to be cleaned daily.
• Plants should be kept moist and dead flowers removed.
• Cleaning trolleys with protruding mop handles, and the use of vacuum cleaners with trailing electric cables, should never be used or kept in a position that may prove hazardous to residents.
• Occasionally it may be necessary to perform unpleasant cleaning duties and the training of staff may be necessary. These are to be carried out with diplomacy so not to cause undue distress or embarrassment to the resident.
