I love the Interaction with the service users. You get to meet different people from different cultures, different religions and customs. The experience you gain from people from different backgrounds, who you will not meet in your regular circle is priceless. Learning about their lives and their various professions, is also interesting. I had the chance to interact with a service user who was a dressmaker to the Queen’s mother. Another was a missile maker. These are people you definitely won’t meet in your usual circle.
Being a carer is a lifestyle not just a title. I have always been a caregiver from a young age; professionally, over 20 years.
I would like to see more people who actually care, working in the care sector. Money is good to have but it shouldn’t be the motive for coming into care. It is only a compensation for the service you offer. If money is the motive, you won’t be able to genuinely care for the service users. The currency you get paid in this sector is not just money.
